Understand turns and intermediate landings
List every bend and the places where you need to get on or off. Ask for the full rail layout rather than assuming each flight can use the same standard part. If two chairs are proposed, discuss the extra transfer between them.
Look beyond the bend itself
Ask how the seat moves around the turn and where you get on and off. Consider doors, radiators and walking routes at both ends. If Acorn proposes parking around a corner, ask to see the full route and the charging position on the plan.
One chair or separate flights?
If two straight lifts are suggested instead of one continuous rail, discuss the extra transfer between chairs. That arrangement may not suit the person using it. Compare the complete journey, not just the equipment prices, and ask for an individual assessment of transfers.
Understand the rail plan in your Acorn quotation
The Acorn 180 uses a modular rail system planned around the surveyed staircase. Ask Acorn to explain the route, parking points, installation, options and aftercare in writing. Confirm lead times and order terms for your project rather than assuming a rail from another home will fit.
