Reconditioned equipment
Find out the chair's age, service history and refurbishment process. Ask which parts are replaced and whether the rail is new or reused. An existing rail may not fit, particularly on a curved route. The written warranty should identify who will provide repairs.
Rental
Add up the initial payment, monthly charge, minimum term, installation and removal. Ask what happens if you return the lift early or need it longer. A low monthly figure is not a complete project cost, and rental is not necessarily available for every stair shape.
Put the options side by side
